Dr. Colin James Powers, MD

Where do I begin!! I met Dr. Powers when I was admitted to the hospital through the ER and I went with my gut feeling that I liked and trusted him. Dr. Powers came to see me daily, explained in detail what his course of treatment would be and why and answered all my questions. Many times during his visit he would sit next to me and ask "how are you feeling and what are you thinking". I eventually needed surgery, however, Dr. Powers did not rush into making that decision. Dr. Powers has it all. He is an excellent surgeon with a beautiful bedside manner, approachable, easy to talk to and listens to his patient. So glad I listened to my gut.

Dr. Powers - I don't know where to begin. This was a first real surgery (umbilical hernia) for me and I was a little anxious about it. Met with Dr. Powers and instantly, I was at ease. He is by far the most patient, kind hearted, down to earth, put things in layman terms, there for you doctor. Myself and my wife both left there after meeting him feeling so happy. Any questions I had - he himself called me back! No receptionist passing on his word. And when he did call, no rush off the phone situation. Come the day of the surgery, his team was phenomenal! But I was still a bit hesitant. Then Dr. Powers walked in and it was as if surgery became exciting (not really) but just such peace of mind. He went over EVERYTHING in detail. After surgery, he called down to my wife on the phone. She told me he was so kind and explained it all - breaking it down so she can understand was going on. I had little to no pain - didn't even have to take my Oxys. Revisit with him after and it was the same… deal. Kind and sat with us for at least 10 minutes. I cant even get my PCP to sit with me for 5 minutes. I tell everyone, I wish he was a doctor for every ailment a person can get. If you are looking for a professional doctor, but kind and down to earth and will give you his time - Dr. Colin Powers is the person to see. From start to finish, it was a pleasure having someone like Dr. Powers each step of the way. Almost over a month later, I am feeling just fine! And the scar is so tiny - he did a great job! He did promise me a tattoo, but I think he may have just forgot :)

I have never seen MD Powers, but I scheduled an appointment to be seen by him. I called to check on my copay prior to my visit and spoke with a Lisa. She asked me for my physical insurance card over the phone, but I had already given her my insurance information. She tells me that my insurance is not going thru, so I asked her why no one bothered to call and tell me. Her response was that the computer does it, but I never received a call. So if I had not called, I would have gone to my appointment but not be seen because my insurance did not go through and no one bothered telling me in advance. I told her I got the card via email and she said she has never heard of that. She asked me for my card number again, but I told her that I will call her back and hung up. I called back to cancel my appointment and she just said yup and that was it. I feel that she was rude and did not care or bother if I had insurance or not. This office needs to train their staff how to do things… correctly and with less attitude.

I met with Dr. Powers and told him I was going to use him for my hernia surgery, which followed my cancer surgery. He told me he needed to review the records of my surgery and he would get back to me and discuss my hernia surgery. He said probably within 48 hours. Over the next four weeks, I left several messages. Many went unanswered and when he did call back, he told me he needed another day or two. After another three weeks of no contact from Dr. Powers, I found another doctor and I'm happy I did. There were no delays, I had the surgery and everything went fine.

His manner is very soothing to a person needing surgery. He will take the time to answer questions and fully explain what to expect from your procedure. This added to his skill as a surgeon makes him worth his weight in gold.

What an amazing doctor! I would recommend Dr. Powers to everyone. He is a wonderful human being and of course a true professional. I underwent hernia surgery with him just two weeks ago. Everything went as planned and the results are excellent. From my office visit with Dr. Powers, to right before the surgical procedure and after; I always felt Dr. Powers was with me. His work is superb...He is caring and so compassionate! Again, an amazing doctor! Everything about Dr. Powers and his terrific staff should be commended.

Dr. Powers is not only very nice, he is also a Professional. As for the surgery he performed on me, it seems to have been perfect. Dr. Powers was very clear when he explained the procedure to me, he was also very assuring on my full recovery.I would definitely recommend Dr. Powers to everyone because of his kindness and his professionalism. He is not only a Dr. , he is an angel.

Dr. Powers is a professional, caring and compassionate doctor. He cares not only for the patient but for the family as well. An excellent physician!
