Dr Spengel is beyond awesome. Yes, he is an excellent chiropractor that will ease your pain in minutes, but where he truly surpasses other specialists is his ability to take your condition and what is happening in your life currently to help explain why you are experiencing the symptoms increasing/decreasing as time goes by. I had experienced excruciating Charlie horses in my legs prior to the visits, but recently they had gotten unbearable going above my knees and up my thighs. I asked if they were nerve related for the extreme pain they would cause each night, and he explained I must be dehydrated or lacking electrolytes. At first I sort of shrugged it off, but as I asked more questions and he was more than happy to explain the basis of how important hydration and the minerals in electrolytes are in muscle function I had to take it seriously. Even during manipulations at the start of treatment I would get mid back spasms when he manipulated my neck. I asked more questions what would… cause this as others that have gone to chiropractors said they never had the problems I did. I ended up taking about an ounce or two of Pedialyte each day and have not had any Charlie horses or spasms during manipulations or at night since. I can give you example after example of strange symptoms I have had and because I went out on a limb to share them with Dr Spengel, instead of a nod or ah ha like you get at the doctor office and a note in your chart, he took the time to listen and ask me more questions, and then gave what he suspected was happening and more importantly how to fix or change that outcome. He has a very holistic approach to medicine that is based on years of experience and research. He has not steered me wrong once. It can be as simple as diet changes or posture changes while sitting or standing and it has made a world of difference. I was injured 15 years ago and am still suffering horrific pain in all 3 sections of my back. He told me not all my pain is due to my back injury, and recommended I see my PC doctor to schedule tests in that area. After an exam the PC sent me for multiple MRI’s and conferred with Dr Spengel’s suspicions that an additional injury was causing significant pain. I have seen so many different doctors in different specialties and none of them could point to the area of injury that was causing this significant pain?? These other doctors did not know my floating ribs had been broken even though I was going to physical therapy for years to treat those very classic symptoms. The ER triage nurse didn’t send me for x-rays when I said I had excruciating pain there and wanted x-rays of my ribs on the day of injury, he said I would be covered in bruises if my ribs were broken. Dr Spengel pointed out that floating ribs are connected by cartilage, therefore the typical bruising is not always present. The suffering I endured for years, the copious amounts of pain medication I was given and then abruptly removed from due to government interference, the wasted hours of physical therapy that was not capable of fixing what was broken, I can only say from my experience see a chiropractor if your back was injured. Save yourself the time, pain, and money, as had my injuries been manipulated back into place when first injured, I would be a totally different person today. Of course, assuming you see a competent chiropractor, which Dr Spengel is above and beyond medically and as a personable physician. I had fears for years that it would hurt or cause more pain or injury me further. I was so wrong in that thinking, I wish I had listened to the few that kept telling me see a chiropractor. What could it hurt to at least get a consultation or first adjustment, if you are on the fence I can say wholeheartedly you will not be disappointed with Dr Spengel.
